How to import bookmarks from Arc to Chrome

Published on March 8, 2026

Switching from Arc to Google Chrome? Arc doesn't have a built-in way to export your bookmarks, but with ArcEscape you can move everything to Chrome in under two minutes. Here's how.

What you'll need

  • Google Chrome (or any Chromium browser to run the extension)
  • ArcEscape installed from the Chrome Web Store
  • Your Arc Browser's StorableSidebar.json file, or a shared Arc link

Step 1: export your Arc bookmarks

Open the ArcEscape extension in Chrome and select your StorableSidebar.json file. If you don't know where to find it:

macOS: Press Cmd+Shift+G in Finder and paste:

~/Library/Application Support/Arc/StorableSidebar.json

Windows: Press Win+R and paste:

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\TheBrowserCompany.Arc_[hash]\LocalCache\Local\Arc\StorableSidebar.json

ArcEscape reads the file locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. You'll see a summary of all your spaces, folders, and links. Click "Export" to download the bookmark HTML file.

Step 2: import into Chrome

Now that you have the exported HTML file, importing into Chrome takes just a few clicks:

  1. Open Chrome and go to chrome://bookmarks or press Cmd+Shift+O (macOS) / Ctrl+Shift+O (Windows).
  2. Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the Bookmark Manager.
  3. Select "Import bookmarks".
  4. Pick the HTML file you exported from ArcEscape.

That's it. Your Arc spaces become Chrome bookmark folders. Your pinned tabs and favorites are all preserved with their original hierarchy.

What about my folder structure?

Chrome fully supports the Netscape bookmark HTML format that ArcEscape produces. Your folder hierarchy is preserved exactly as it was in Arc:

  • Arc spaces become top-level bookmark folders
  • Pinned tabs and favorites are kept in their original folders
  • Nested folders (folders inside folders) are preserved at any depth

Alternative: export from a shared Arc link

If you don't have access to the StorableSidebar.json file (for example, someone shared their Arc space with you), you can also export directly from a shared link:

  1. Open the shared arc.net/space/ or arc.net/folder/ URL in Chrome.
  2. With ArcEscape installed, a teal export button appears at the bottom right.
  3. Click it to download the bookmarks, then import into Chrome as described above.

Works with other browsers too

While this guide focuses on Chrome, the same exported file works with Firefox, Edge, Brave, Safari, Vivaldi, and DuckDuckGo. The import steps are similar — look for "Import bookmarks from HTML" in your browser's settings.
