How to create a shareable link in Arc Browser

Published on March 8, 2026

Arc Browser lets you share your spaces and folders as public links. This is useful for collaborating with others, but it's also a great way to export your bookmarks using ArcEscape — even if you don't have access to Arc's local files. Here's how to create shareable links.

What is a shareable link in Arc?

When you share a space or folder in Arc, the browser generates a public URL on arc.net. Anyone with the link can view the bookmarks in that space or folder — no Arc installation required. The links look like this:

  • arc.net/space/... for shared spaces
  • arc.net/folder/... for shared folders

How to share a space

Follow these steps to create a shareable link for an entire Arc space:

  1. Open Arc Browser and navigate to the space you want to share.
  2. Right-click on the space name in the sidebar.
  3. Select Share space from the context menu.
  4. Arc will generate a public link and copy it to your clipboard. The link will look like arc.net/space/....

The shared link includes all the pinned tabs and folders within that space. Anyone who opens the link can see the bookmark titles and URLs.

How to share a folder

You can also share individual folders instead of an entire space:

  1. In Arc's sidebar, find the folder you want to share.
  2. Right-click on the folder name.
  3. Select Share folder from the context menu.
  4. The generated link is copied to your clipboard. It will look like arc.net/folder/....

This is useful when you only want to share or export a specific set of bookmarks rather than everything in a space.

How to export bookmarks from a shared link

Once you have a shareable link, you can use ArcEscape to export those bookmarks as a standard HTML file:

  1. Install ArcEscape from the Chrome Web Store (works on Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Vivaldi).
  2. Open the shared arc.net/space/ or arc.net/folder/ link in your browser.
  3. A teal export button will appear at the bottom right of the page.
  4. Click it to download your bookmarks as an HTML file.
  5. Import the file into any browser — Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, Brave, or Vivaldi.

When to use shared links vs. the local file

ArcEscape supports two export methods. Here's when to use each one:

Use a shared link when:

  • Someone else shared their Arc space or folder with you
  • You want to export just one specific space or folder
  • You can't locate the StorableSidebar.json file on your computer

Use the local file when:

  • You want to export all your spaces and bookmarks at once
  • You prefer not to make any bookmarks public
  • You need to export everything before uninstalling Arc

Things to keep in mind

  • Shared links are public. Anyone with the URL can see the bookmarks in that space or folder. Don't share spaces that contain sensitive or private links.
  • You can unshare anytime. Right-click the space or folder again and select the option to stop sharing. The public link will stop working.
  • Shared links stay in sync. If you add or remove bookmarks from a shared space, the public link reflects those changes.
